UN's Sustainable Development Goals

The UN’s Global Goals for Sustainable Development were adopted by heads of state and government around the world at the UN Summit in New York on 25 September 2015. This marked an unprecedentedly ambitious and transformative development agenda, and the goals were acted upon on January 1st 2016.

By 2030, these goals must create a more sustainable development for both people, but also the planet we live on. These goals commit all 193 member states of the UN to eradicate poverty and hunger in the world, reduce inequalities, ensure good education and better health for all, decent jobs and more sustainable economic growth.

At Sun & Safe, we understand the challenges we face today, which include inequality, poverty, lack of natural resources, as well as environmental pollution and climate change.

We believe that everyone has a responsibility to take care of our planet and the people who live on it. We therefore attach great importance to doing our part to achieve the UN’s world goals. Large parts of our business model are based on solving challenges. Covid-19 has brought social, economic and health challenges, and we believe it is important that we learn from the situation.

Our world may never be the same again, but with our UVHandle, we are trying to do our part to achieve some of the UN’s world goals.

Covid-19 has put pressure on both our economy and healthcare.

The pandemic has put large parts of the economy on pause with shut downs, fewer customers, sick leave and limited work effort.

At the same time, it has put pressure on our healthcare system and workers, which have been working overtime with a lack of space, longer waiting times and lack of equipments.

It is therefore important that we actively try to create change that ensures that we are not in the same situation again in the future. With our UVHandle, we have developed a solution that minimizes the risk of spreading viruses and bacteria.

UVHandlen is a product that disinfects some of the most affected surfaces in all buildings; door handle. In collaboration with the UV experts, Natural Disinfection, we have developed a method that disinfects safely and is supported by research. The UV handle is mounted on the door and will disinfect the door handle after each use, using UV-C.

There is therefore no need to use alcohol or other chemicals that are harmful to your health and the environment. The product is easy to install and no further maintenance is required, in addition to charging batteries every 4-6 months. With this product, we have created a solution that actively contributes to UN World Goal No. 3, Health and Well-being. The health and safety of employees, customers and guests should always be a top priority.

Our UVHandle can therefore be used in all organizations to minimize the risk of infection. The product can be used in hospitals, schools, nursing homes, offices, factories and many more to ensure a more secure future.

Water shortage affects more than 40% of the world's population.

This is a figure that is expected to increase with rising global temperatures caused by climate change. In 2011, 41 countries experienced water stress and ten of them are close to depleting their sources of renewable fresh water and now have to reckon with non-conventional sources.

These trends are exacerbated by drought and desertification and by 2050, one in four is expected to be affected by recurrent water shortages. Achieving access to water and sanitation for all requires that we invest in infrastructure, provide sanitation and promote hygiene at all levels.

Sun & Safe contributes to this goal by, first and foremost, promoting hygiene and sanitation. In addition, we create focus on UV technology and its possibilities. There are countless options with UV for disinfection and cleaning of surfaces, but also air and water. The advantage here is that we minimize the consumption of harmful chemicals and thus protect our ecosystems such as forests, mountains, wetlands and rivers.
